International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Christine Lagarde reiterated the agency’s support for Argentina’s “economic stabilization program” on Friday, after meeting with President Mauricio Macri in Osaka at the G20 summit .
“I reiterated the Fund’s support for Argentina’s economic stabilization program and continued policy efforts to address economic vulnerabilities, including reducing the country’s fiscal and current account imbalances, and combating inflation,” Lagarde said.
In this vein, the IMF manager assessed that “these efforts are beginning to work out and should lay the groundwork for the return of confidence and growth.”

He said it was “a pleasure” to meet with President Mauricio Macri in Osaka. “We had a very productive conversation, we exchanged views on the global economic outlook and on recent developments in Argentina,” he explained. Finally, Lagarde stated that “the Argentine authorities and the Fund’s technical team are close to concluding their talks on the fourth revision of the Stand-By agreement and I look forward to presenting it to our Executive Board very soon.” In this note:
