Morelia, Michoacán.- In the search for accountability in a more efficient and transparent way, the Government Accounting Committee of the Michoacana University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH) was installed.
In the face of media, the rector Raúl Cárdenas Navarro explained that this Committee will serve as a technical body that must interpret and apply, within the scope of the University, the precepts established in the General Law on Government Accounting ( LGCG), as well as the Agreements issued by the National Accounting Harmonisation Council (CONAC), in accordance with the laws and regulations in force, which allow, inter alia, to strengthen transparency, accountability and efficiency in the use of public resources.
“We need to guarantee to society that we make proper use of the resources we receive and that they are all aimed at fulfilling the substantive functions of the Michoacana University such as human resources training, research and dissemination of culture and knowledge, that is the intention of this session, of this working meeting to install this Committee”.
The idea, he said, was to establish this Committee as part of the lines of work we have in this administration; fundamentally on the axis of compromise and accountability, so that the exercise of resources is monitored in strict adherence to government accounting. It is a work that is promoted from the University Heritage Directorate because it has to have an impact in all areas of the Michoacana University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo”.
It recalled that one of the projects it would promote in its administration was to provide quarterly reports to the University Council’s Committee on Budget and Control on the financial status of the University.
The University Treasurer, Rodrigo Gómez Monge detailed that the Government Accounting Committee of the UMSNH, as a technical body, must interpret and apply, within the scope of the University, the precepts established in the General Accounting Law (LGCG), as well as the Agreements issued by the National Accounting Harmonisation Council (CONAC), in accordance with the legal and regulatory provisions in force.
The Committee should meet to advance the attention of recommendations and observations related to previous fiscal years, received by THE UMSNH and to finish consolidating the Government Accounting System within the institution.
In addition, it will make it possible to define strategies to improve the processes of transparency, accountability and regulatory improvement in the University.
