In the first drill test carried out by the company Smartmatic for the transmission of the data of the provisional count the system failed and aroused the controversy for the security of the votes in the STEPS of August 11, to the point that the takeover of the PJ Jorge Landau asked the National Electoral Chamber not to participate in the elections.
“We call on the Electoral Chamber not to intervene in the elections,” stressed Landau, who noted that this raises the aim of “avoiding a chaotic situation” in the interim vote count of the National Primary. This change adds to other suspicions about changes in electoral matters that the government made without going through Congress, such as the authorization of votes from the outside by mail, which was in principle disabled by the Justice but last week a ruling approved.
Landau complained about the possible “chaos” that Smartmatic’s involvement can generate: “Imagine us and the government celebrating at the same time, we want to avoid that chaotic situation.” The next drill will take place on July 20, three weeks before the election and from the company and the Argentine Mail anticipate that it will not fail.
