U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that ICE raids will begin Sunday, and told reporters this Friday that “they’re going to take people out and take them back to their countries.”
A few weeks ago, when President Donald Trump warned that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were preparing raids across the country, a 41-year-old housekeeper and nanny from Miami headed to the edibles with her daughter.
Since then, the raids Trump threatened have not happened. But for millions of undocumented immigrants living in the United States, the storm is still brewing.
With a new threat of immigration raids on Sunday, immigrant rights advocates and undocumented immigrants told CNN that fear in their communities is growing.
And undocumented immigrants are preparing.
They call the lines of attention, they’re afraid to get out and they’re not sure where to go. Some stay home and don’t go to work. Others are putting up signs on their doorstep, telling them what to do if ICE agents show up.
