With a brief intervention before the Oral Court that judges him, endoscopist Diego Bialolenkier claimed to be “convinced” of his “innocence”. The doctor is one of two charged by the death of Deborah Perez Volpin.La another defendant in the case is the anaesthetist Nélida Puente, who earlier had targeted Bialolinkier for the death of the legislator, and argued that it was herself who noticed at one point the procedure that Pérez Volpin’s “chest and abdomen” were “swollen like a ton.”
“I am convinced of my innocence; there’s no chance that I caused what happened,” he said.
The defendant spoke to Judge Javier Anzoátegui of the Oral Court in criminal and correctional court number 8 of the Federal Capital. He merely expressed those short words and said that he would declare at another time, an option that he could make use of as any defendant in such proceedings. The claim that represents The family of Deborah points themselves as responsible to both: the endoscopist for generating the injury in the esophagus while the anaesthetist for not doing what is necessary to avoid the fatal outcome on February 6, 2018 at the Sanatorium de la Trini where she had come to an endoscopy.
More on this subject: Débora Pérez Volpin’s partner declared to justice: “it was normal”But they also point to the responsibilities of other professionals and the sanatorium authorities for an eventual cover-up they tried to do on the two doctors today sitting on the defendants’ bench.
