The saga of the trial for sexual abuse at the Antonio Provolo Institute of Luján de Cuyo will have today another of its chapters, and many expect that the process will finally enter the territory of definitions.
The defense has opted for a delaying strategy. Supposedly, one defendant doesn’t listen and another doesn’t even understand what’s going on.
The day will start at 8.30. The focus will be on what the experts say about the gardener Armando Gómez, who – according to the lawyer Alicia Arlotta, who defends the three defendants – is unable to understand the judicial process against him. A few days ago, UNCuyo specialists analyzed Gomez’s situation to reveal what’s true of the defense’s arguments. Depending on what the judge decides today, the time may come when the many witnesses will begin to testify. Testimonies, however, will be heard behind closed doors. Judges Mauricio Juan, María Alejandra Ratto and Jorge Díaz also requested that different instances not be disseminated on social media.
Defendants have resorted to various strategies to delay the process.
It will be to be seen whether the defense of Nicola Corradi, Horacio Corbacho and Armando Gómez puts another strategy in place before responding to the sexual abuse and child corruption cases against them. If the debate takes its run, a sentence is expected by the end of September. Convictions could reach 50 years in prison. In this note:
