Among the nominees for Best Ibero-American Film are also “Red”, by the Argentine Benjamin Naishtat; “Averno”, by the Bolivian Marcos Loayza; “Dream Florianopolis”, by Brazil’s Ana Katz; “Cenizas”, by Ecuadorian Juan Sebastián Jácome, and “Champions”, by Spain’s Javier Fesser. The category is completed by “Las heiress”, by Paraguayan Marcelo Martinessi; “O labirinto da saudade”, by the Portuguese Miguel Gon’alves Mendes; “The Silence of the Wind”, from puerto Rican Alvaro Aponte-Centeno, and “La familia”, by the Venezuelan Gustavo Rondón Córdova.
The information added that the Macondo Awards will have this new category after two years of work to achieve it with the Ibero-American Federation of Film Academies (Fiacine) and the Ibero-American Federation of Film and Audiovisual Producers ( Fipca), two “intercontinental organizations” of industry in the region. “One of the greatest benefits of creating this category is the emergence of a new window for our national productions between member countries and towards the world.
