From January to September 2019, Mexico raised $26,55.6 million in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), an increase of 7.8% compared to the same period last year, the Ministry of the Economy reported, although stating that they are preliminary figures.
The “figure will be adjusted when there is more information about the operations of that period,” said the Secretariat of which Graciela Márquez is the owner.
In 2018 the figure was $24,174.3 million in the first nine months of the year.

In detail, Economía said that the BDI recorded to date for the first three quarters of 2019 came from three thousand,759 companies with foreign equity, as well as two thousand,814 trust contracts and 19 foreign moral persons.
In disaggregated the figures, he indicated that, by type of investment, resources came through reinvestment of profits (55.2%); by new investments (36.1%), and by accounts between companies (8.7%).
By sector, manufacturing stands out, 44.6%; financial and insurance services, 13.9%; 11.3%; electricity, water and gas generation, 5.8%; information in mass media, 5.3% and mining, 5.2%. The remaining sectors raised 13.9%.
As for the country of origin, the main investor is the United States, with 34.9% of the total; Spain, 15.5%; Canada, 10.4%; Germany, 10.1%, Italy 4.1%; and other countries contributed the remaining 25%.
