Senators from the various benches on Wednesday signed a social peace, human rights and public order agreement. The president of the Senate Chamber, Jaime Quintana, through a statement read he asked the Government, the Public Prosecutor’s Office and justice to restore public order. Quintana stated that “all of us who subscribe to this document condemn the violation of HRDs, we enter into a constitutional agreement, and we are working on building an agenda of economic and social reforms that citizens have demanded in a way blunt.”” With great concern that new acts of violence are happening every day that affect the lives and work of our compatriots. Chile lives critical days. Days of social pain and material destruction; days of anguish for which the country was not prepared,” he added. In addition, the President of the Senate stated that “We believe that democracy, public order and human rights are fully compatible and the authorities must ensure their respect.” Parliamentarians noted that “we call on the Government, the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the courts of justice to use all existing legal tools to identify and punish those responsible for the dismantled duties.” For this reason, they directly placed President Sebastián Piñera because according to the senators, the representative “has the constitutional tools to restore public order and the security of the country, and must ensure the respect of the HRDs of all Chileans.”
