The Director of the National Institute for Human Rights (INDH), Sergio Micco, highlighted the report of the Mission to Chile of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), which revealed serious and repeated violations of DDs. HH., committed mainly by Carabineros.Al, Micco stated that “every time the Institute is cited profusely in that report, and the figures and facts that appear there, are endorsed by the INDH. The National Institute of Human Rights does not lie.” The Director of INDH agreed with the UN conclusions that a thorough restructuring of the police is urgent and necessary. It also appreciated OHCHR’s recognition of the work of INDH officials, “those who have observed demonstrations, attended police stations and hospitals to find violations of human rights”, announced that “next week we will release our report on human rights violations in Chile. At that point, we will delve into detail, but all I want to say is that the INDH is concerned about it that human rights in the country are not further violated.”
