translated from Spanish: Another piñerist from La Moneda goes: Rodrigo Ubilla resigns from undersecretariat of the Interior

Through a statement, and against all odds, the Government announced the departure of The emblematic Undersecretary of the Interior of Sebastián Piñera, Rodrigo Ubilla
“The President of the Republic Sebastián Piñera has accepted the resignation – for strictly personal reasons – of Rodrigo Ubilla Mackenney to the post of Undersecretary of the Interior, which will become effective from January 1, 2020,” the text reads. Ubilla, an RN militant, is syndicated primarily a mountaineer who has been at the President’s side for early hours. In fact, he held the same position throughout the first government of Sebastián Piñera, and his management was unfailingly linked to the figure of Andrés Chadwick, with whom he duped both in the first government and in this administration until the departure of the cousin of the President of the cabinet in the midst of the social outburst.
Together with Chadwick they swept through tough moments for the Executive, such as the crime of mapuche comune Camilo Catrillanca at the hands of Carabineros in Ercilla, a fact that initiated the debacle of the current administration in public opinion.
During the outburst, while not as exposed as Chadwick in the first line of the contingency, his name was also present and indeed from the Broad Front they requested his resignation along with carabineros’ managing general Mario Rozas, due to the “numerous numerous dD violations. HH” that have been committed during the social outburst in the country.
The management of Ubilla was also marked by other parallel events, such as the complaint of irregular purchase of indigenous lands that had it declaring it in the Court of Pucón. The last of the land was acquired in 2012, when it was part of the first government of Sebastián Piñera, in the same position of undersecretary of the Interior.
The new undersecretary
In the Government statement, they thanked Ubilla for “the commitment, dedication and professionalism with which he has held the position during these 21 months of Government and especially during the last weeks”.
His replacement will be Juan Francisco Galli Basili, who currently serves as Under-Secretary-General of the Presidency.
Both authorities – Ubilla and Galli – will begin working together on the transfer of office, given the relevance of the position.
Juan Francisco Galli, 42, attended Craighouse High School. He later entered the Faculty of Law of the Pontifical Catholic University, where he graduated as a lawyer in 2003. Between 2006 and 2008, he completed a master’s degree in Public Administration from the London School of Economics and Political Science (MPA), and graduated in Economics and Finance from the University of Chile.
He is a national renewal militant, but began in political career and public service when he presided over his school’s student center. During his professional career he held various positions in the State, including those of advisor in the Ministry of Finance and Head of Division in the Ministry of Energy.
In piñera’s first government, he was legislative adviser to the Ministry of Interior and Public Security (2010-2013) and chief of staff of Minister of National Defense Rodrigo Hinzpeter (2013-2014). While in 2013 he represented Chile as co-agent of the State before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in the so-called “Lonkos Case”.
Before taking over as Undersecretary of FF.AA. he was the political-legislative director of the Avanza Chile Foundation, created by President Sebastián Piñera, and election manager of his campaign.
As a football fan, he graduated as a professional referee at INAF, and carried out such work between 1998 and 2006, becoming a referee in youth under-19s and fourth referee in the First Division of the National Professional Football Association.
