Iran vowed revenge on the U.S. attack near Baghdad airport in which the architect of the Islamic republic’s interventions in the Middle East died, and the U.S. responded Friday by sending thousands of additional troops it’s to the region. The death of General Qassem Soleimani, head of the elite Quds Force group, represents a major escalation in the clashes between Washington and Tehran, which have been through several times of crisis since President Donald Trump withdrew from the agreement 2015 nuclear and imposed severe sanctions on Iran.A new airstrike was recorded north of Baghdad nearly 24 hours after the offensive in which Soleimani was shot down, impacting two vehicles in which elements of the Iranian-backed militia were traveling and with a balance of five people killed, an Iraqi official reported who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the incident with the press. The Iran-backed Popular Mobilization Forces confirmed the attack, noting that it was perpetrated against one of its medical caravans near Taji Stadium, north of Baghdad. The group said none of its top officials died in the bombing. A U.S. official who spoke on condition of anonymity claimed that his country did not perpetrate such an attack.
