Mexico.- The University Council of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) approved the creation of the new degree in Space Engineering, which will become the number 129 that the house of study offers.
In a statement, UNAM explained that the new bachelor’s degree will be taught at the Faculty of Engineering, located in University City. In addition, it reported that the curriculum would consist of 10 semesters in which students would have to cover a total of 450 credits.

As the educational institution explained, the career will be structured so that in the ninth semester, students choose an area of specialization: aeronautics or space. The curriculum will focus on knowledge development in both areas, but will be deepened in recent semesters.
In addition, it is planned to work with students on thinking skills, which allow them to understand and apply the language and terms used in the aerospace industry in the workplace.  The bachelor’s degree will be oriented in the generation of technological projects and competitive applications for national and international industry. It will also teach subjects of the basic, social and humanities sciences.
The house considers this to be a growing sector, as global demand for aircraft and its components is projected at 37,000 aircraft for the next two decades; and in recent years the jobs in companies in this field went from 27 thousand to 58 thousand.
