Sinaloa.- To promote transparency and citizen participation in legislative processes, the Committee of Citizen Participation of the State and Municipal Anti-Corruption System, in coordination with other organizations and foundations, promotes the project ‘ Sinaloa Open Parliament’. This proposal aims to take initiatives to improve accountability and conflict-of-interest issues by the Legislative Power.
They reported that they have already had meetings with different members of the Coordination Board, with the presence Graciela Domínguez Nava as president, and hope to put the agenda into action within the next few days. The president of the CPC, Norma Sánchez, stated that, while the State Congress already has some criteria for access to information, there is a need to improve aspects to make the information more useful and easier to obtain. He added that public institutions needed to ensure mechanisms of citizen participation. David Moreno Lizárraga, President of the Citizens’ Parliament, said that citizens need to improve the quality and effectiveness of actions by institutions to provide access to information.
The project is also joined by Mexicans Primero, Fundación Cárdenas, Ceaip, Fundar, Miuas, Ammje, Mujeres en Bici and two citizens independently, Yadira Carrera and Cristina Tortolero.
