translated from Spanish: UNAM, IPN and BUAP students demand justice from AMLO for murder of peers

Students of Medicine of UNAM, the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) and the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) demonstrated in front of Palacio Nacional after the murder of three young university students and an Uber driver, which occurred last week in Puebla.
The students began to gather around 6 a.m. in front of the Palace of Fine Arts.

The contingent advanced on Avenue 5 de Mayo towards the Plate of the Zocalo with banners of “I thought killing yourself by studying was figuratively”, “my family wants my medical degree, not my death certificate”, or “How do you expect us to take care of your life if we take it away?”
Already in front of the National Palace, the protesters demanded violence in the country that affects young people and students and, in particular, the precariousness in which medical students live, since when they begin to perform their social service they are sent to remote places in precarious economic conditions and without guarantees of security.
In addition to claiming the murders of Ximena Quijano Hernández (25 years), José Antonio Parada Cerpa (22 years) and Francisco Javier Tirado Márquez (22 years), the demonstration presented the case of Mayte Viridiana Aguilar Martínez, graduated from the NATIONAL School of Medicine and Homeopathy (ENMH) of the IPN, killed on February 20 by a man who intercepted her on a motorbike when she took an Uber, without knowing the reasons or possible culprit.

Pupils from that same school also claimed that on their campus they installed a “clothesline” with allegations of sexual harassment, but only received taunts.
After a few minutes, Leticia Ramírez, in charge of citizen care for the Presidency, went out to talk with the young people and asked them to form a commission to receive them and listen to their demands.
The UNAM School of Medicine officially reported on its social networks that the academic evaluation of those who decided to participate in the 24-hour march and active stoppage, agreed on Friday by an electronic vote in which 86% were in favour, would not be affected.
The students of the Polytechnic were also informed that this Monday’s faults would be justified.
