translated from Spanish: women in Chihuahua before femicides

Mothers of victims of femicide and missing women joined the protests of this #8M in Ciudad Juárez, as well as in the capital of the state of Chihuahua.
According to a report from the Diario de Juarez, more than 1,500 women against gender-based violence were manifested in this border town.

“We are not alone, we walk together,” the participants exclaimed in the city centre, following a call from the Red Mesa de Mujeres de Ciudad Juárez.

Meanwhile, in the city of Chihuahua, girls and mothers remembered the femicides of journalist Miroslava Breach, who was murdered three years ago, after denouncing alleged links of local officials to drug trafficking.

Activist Marisela Escobedo was also remembered, murdered in front of the Chihuahua Municipal Palace on December 16, 2010, when she demanded justice for the femicide of her 16-year-old daughter Ruby.

The feminist protest also honored Josefina Reyes Salazar, an activist who sought justice for the murder of seven members of her family, including her son, and subsequently murdered in 2010 in the state, after denouncing human rights violations by the military.
The feminist protest required the Chihuahua government to implement actions to eradicate gender discrimination, as well as medical and psychological care to all direct, indirect or potential victims related to acts of violence against women.
A day earlier, women also organized a feminist chain convened by the State Women’s Movement in Chihuahua, which demanded that “impunity in cases of intentional murder against women and femicide” end.
