A judge at the Reclusorio Oriente considered that there is sufficient evidence to link the two men arrested by the femicide of Abril Pérez Sagaón to prosecution.
The judge considered that the data presented presumed that the two men were hired to execute the April femicide on 25 November 2019.
On 5 March, police from the Ministry of Citizen Security (SSC) arrested the alleged murderers at the mayor’s office in Iztapalapa.
Identification of detainees was achieved through the tracking of the cars involved and their phones.
According to the judge, there is evidence that the intellectual author could be April’s ex-husband and the two detainees would be the possible material authors of femicide.
Finally, the judge gave the Attorney General’s Office four months to close the investigation prior to trial, and confirmed that both detainees remain in informal pre-trial detention.
Mexico City Attorney General Ernestina Godoy had reported that one of the men arrested was the one who shot April from a motorcycle, while the other was a partner.
