The day of this 11 March has been marked by protests in different points of the capital against the government of Sebastián Piñera that on Wednesday marks two years in La Moneda.
The incidents focused not only on Plaza de la Dignidad and in the vicinity of the Currency, but also seriously affected the capital public transport service. In fact, over the day some 29 Metro stations were closed someover during the day. Problems started early. At 10:08 hours, Metro de Santiago reported through its social networks that the Quinta Normal station of Line 5 was closed and without train arrest due to protests abroad.
The same was true at the Departmental station on Line 2 and in Gruta de Lourdes on Line 5, as well as in other stations of all lines, which after some interruptions returned to normal operation as soon as possible.
At 11:16, Metro reported that Line 1 was without flow of electricity since there were schoolchildren sitting on the edge of the platform at Pedro de Valdivia station. Minutes later the service was rehabilitated.
During the afternoon the inconveniences intensified and key stations such as Santa Ana, where it combines Line 5 with Line 2, was largely closed time.
