CDMX.- The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 rose to 41 in Mexico, while 155 cases remain as suspects, the Under-Secretary for Prevention Promotion of Health, Hugo López-Gatell, confirmed on Saturday.At a press conference from Palacio Nacional, the official detailed that 404 cases have been ruled out so far and that the outcome of the tests applied to the 155 cases under observation would be released in the next 24 hours.
He indicated that the 41 confirmed cases of coronavirus are distributed in 14 states of the country, with Mexico City being where 17 patients have been detected. Campeche, for its part, is the only entity where no suspicious or positive cases have been detected. Lopez-Gatell said the Government’s strategy will focus on implementing measures to prevent the spread of the outbreak, which will mean increasing “social estrangement.”

In that tenor, it presented a series of actions that are planned to be implemented from 23 March to 19 April, which consists of the recommendation to reschedule mass public events and the suspension of “non-essential” public attention activities. Hours earlier, the health official and the Secretary of Public Education, Esteban Moctezuma, reported that the Easter holiday period, which will cover one month, from March 20 to April 20, will be ahead COVID-19 in school settings.
