Health authorities reported that Mexico has, until the afternoon of this March 19, 164 confirmed cases of coronavirus COVID-19.
There were also 448 suspected cases, one of which died, the director of Epidemiology, José Luis Alomía, reported. However, its contagion by the new coronavirus is not confirmed.
He is a 74-year-old man with a history of travel to the United States, and who suffered for 15 years of high blood pressure.  
On the first death by COVID-19 in Mexico, recorded on March 18, the official explained that it is a case in investigation, as this person had contact, in an incubation period, with two people who had developed symptomatology.

“This person has been being investigated for medical attention elsewhere. He could have stayed in this other medical unit for a few hours. These two lines of inquiry are open to finding a chain of transmission,” Alomía said.
Undersecretary of Health Hugo Lopez-Gatell ruled out the search for people who attended recent mass events, such as the Vive Latino festival, as he said outbreak control measures focus on the side of containment only with suspected cases.
So far, 90% of the cases confirmed in Mexico have demanded first-level care; of this population, 87% remain in outpatient status, and 8% did enter a hospital level, however they are reported as stable.
All entities report confirmed, or at least suspicious, cases.
