The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) will offer, as of March 24, the coronavirus diagnostic service or SARS-CoV-2 to the university community.
The number of appointments will be limited to up to 20 people per day and tests will be performed only on those who have a respiratory infection, the university detailed in a statement.
The school reported that the sampling for the clinical examination will take place at a university facility near Ciudad Universitaria.

Only people by appointment will be taken care of and who come 10 minutes before the indicated time.
Academic staff, workers and students must present the current UNAM credential.

So far, the tests are carried out by the Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference (InDRE), plus 31 public laboratories – one for each entity –, the National Institute of Respiratory Diseases, the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition, the General Hospital of Mexico, the hospitals November 20 and La Raza, and two private hospitals.
According to the most recent report by the Ministry of Health, as of March 23, there are four deaths in the country due to COVID-19, 367 people with the virus and 826 suspected cases, who are under investigation.
