Mexico.- The Ministry of Health has reported that there has been an increase in calls for anxiety and emotional stress due to the global covid-19 pandemic.
During the news conference on coronavirus status in the country, Juan Manuel Quijada Gaytán, director general of Psychiatric Care Services, said calls for anxiety and emotional stress have increased, while psychiatric care services declined.
“As for the data we might have it is that of the Lifeline has had an increase in calls for anxiety and emotional stress, and as for psychiatric care services, in the first few weeks decreased a little when there was a healthy distance”
Jorge González Olvera, general director of the National Council of Addictions (Conadic), reported that calls are made by people over the age of 25, while minors do so through social networks. ”
They are not called only, there is much of the population gap, when they are under 25 they are contacted via social networks and over 25 tend to call.”
Lorena Rodríguez Bores, technical secretary of the National Mental Health Council, commented that only last week 200 calls were received for various reasons. “Last week of the total call were almost 200 calls, the reasons for the calls are for anxiety, anger, stress and others by labor conflicts, if we are seeing a significant increase,” he said.
