translated from Spanish: Entrepreneurs call on government to join National Pandemic Agreement

The Chairman of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), Carlos Salazar Lomelín, asked the government and all of Mexico to join a major National Agreement to deal with the pandemic by COVID-19.
“We know in advance that the federal government will sooner that it will eventually join this agreement, that’s what we expect,” he said during a video convention accompanied by the leaders of the top business cameras.
“We will not stand with our arms crossed, when we know that in society we can organize ourselves,” he added.
Salazar Lomelín said that with information that activities will be restored until May 17, companies are working on how to act the next 90 days to reduce economic impact.

He acknowledged that as everyone in the world “we will have a fall in Gross Domestic Product (GDP), but what we do not want is for that to involve the total loss of business,” and although the government explained that work will be gradually restarted, as long as “we have to resist the next 45 days.”
For this reason, he called for a great national agreement, with one objective, “to invite all Mexico to join”, so that no one will run out of help, “we have very clear examples of help and solidarity of all Mexicans”.
He said companies are looking to be the vehicle for “no Mexican, who is having the impact of this crisis, to run out of help from the Mexican business sector, no Mexican who has lost his job, has no hope that he will recover it soon.”
He called society, “all those who have a disadvantage,” is certainly “a moment of responsibility.”

“It’s not a moment of politics, we want to be focused, we don’t want to move around the news of the publisher who criticizes our actions, we want to show everyone the muscle and capacity of all entrepreneurs and show that we are united and organized.”
Insisting that jobs should not be lost in Mexico, he recalled that “the worst moments in the history of the country is when we have encountered a disjointed Mexico, which has lacked solidarity; if we are united we can overcome the emergency… we have immeasurable, very difficult risks that push us into serious situations… that’s why we summon everyone to the agreement without distinctions of colors or affiliations.”
He acknowledged that in the current context there are calls to the encono and to make a difference, but “we have a responsibility to seek the exact opposite, to unite our country.”

In this way, the CCE presented a series of actions aimed at micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (Mipymes) ranging from digital supports, credits through banking for 62 billion pesos, with guarantees from Nacional Financiera; there are also other loans offered by the Inter-American Development Bank.
The business meeting spoke of large agreements and supports to take care of the jobs of the Mipymes, so that no companies disappear due to lack of liquidity, and even the Solidarity Wage was required, so that companies can maintain jobs and wages.
