Morelia, Michoacán.- Through a statement it has been reported that the National Technological of Mexico, Morelia campus, made the first delivery of 14 lung respirators, of the 121 that are being reviewed and repaired by teachers, researchers, students and graduates of this House of Engineering who work in coordination with the National Laboratory of Embedded Systems, Electronic Design, Advanced and Microsystems (SEDEAM).
ItM Director José Luis Gil Vázquez explained to the Coordinator of Conservation and General Services of the Mexican Institute of Social Security, Víctor Calvillo Carlos and the State Delegate and representative of the Decentralized Organ of IMSS, Ma. Luisa Rodea Pimentel, the importance of the work done by the team of 49 people coordinated by Dr. Juan Alfonso Salazar Torres, since he emphasized that the institution’s commitment is to put at the service of society the knowledge acquired.

“This is a first package, we hope that in the next few days 16 more respirators can be delivered so that they can be used in medical areas; this work is a great pride to be able to do it, today it is another example of the social commitment that our institution has with Mexico; proof of this, it is the delivery we make today to IMSS and we know that these equipments are a life support, they are going to save many lives in Mexico,” emphasized Gil Vázquez.
For his part, the Conservation and General Services Coordinator of IMSS thanked the Director General, Zoé Robledo, for the teachers, researchers and students because this repair will help the right community and general population: “We are eternally grateful to you young people for this thing you are doing for the country”.
Continuing his message, he also clarified that the instruction of the Director General of IMSS is that this first batch be moved via Volaris, which is the company that has jointly joined the Institute, to be transferred to Tijuana, where – at this time – the highest contagion rate in the country by Coronavirus is located.
The equipment was rehabilitated after diagnosis and repair on the flow level, pneumatic and electronic functionality, as well as performing the necessary functionality tests to then use them for transfer of airway to the city of Tijuana, Baja California.
The mechanical fans shipped in this first delivery are for use in adults with the aim of initially caring for patients with COVID-19.
