translated from Spanish: Fernandez talked about debt: “We’re in default months ago”

The President of the Nation, Alberto Fernández, this afternoon referred to the debt negotiations that the Minister of Economy, Martín Guzmán, carries out with the bonistas and that tomorrow has a deadline before the expiration of the deadline to pay 500 million dollars.

“We are not going to subject Argentina to new commitments that we cannot fulfill,” Fernandez in Santiago del Estero, where he was accompanied by the governor, Gerardo Zamora. The president referred to tomorrow’s expiration and ruled out the versions that Argentian will default this Friday: “I wonder why they lie like this, we are in default months ago.”

Fernández refers since he was president to the “re-profile” that Hernán Lacunza announced about the peso debt in September, when Mauricio Macri had very complicated his chances of re-election.
“I want the world to see Argentina as an honorable country that fulfills its commitments without that meaning a further postponement of our people.”

In that sense, the representative said that he will not delay “what all the Argentinians who are locked in their houses are waiting, which is to go out, produce and grow Argentina”. The last week came with a breakthrough in negotiations with investment funds, mainly with Blackrock, the world’s largest fund, which owns much of the debt.

A future with opportunities for all and all requires sustainable debt. We thank the creditors who supported our proposal. Until this Monday, there’s time to extend it. Dialogue continues towards an agreement that Argentina and its creditors can sustain. https://t.co/QSit8D4Vfs— Martín Guzmán (@Martin_M_Guzman)

Blackrock lowered his claims and said he would be willing to accept between 50 and 55 cents per dollar. “That was the commitment I made in my campaign, I keep the word, I respect the word very much,” emphasized the representative who was accompanied by the interior ministers, Edward de Pedro; and Public Works, Gabriel Katopodis; and the Secretary General of the Presidency, Julio Vitobello.
