Mexico City authorities said on Monday that they will deliver one million masks to Metro users at the most affluence stations to protect more than one possible COVID-19 contagion.

“It will start with a lot of 150 thousand masks, at various times, in the following stations: Four Roads and Tasqueña of Line 2; Green Indians of Line 3; Pantitlán of Lines 9 and A; and 1917 Constitution of Line 8,” the capital government said, in a statement.
A percentage of the masks are developed by the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (SECTEI) in conjunction with the company Graphenemex, he added.
“The rest is expected to be donations from companies that philanthropically want to help meet the goal for the protection of Metro users and workers,” the authorities said.
They did not detail in what time period they seek to meet the distribution target of one million masks.
The protective mask developed by SECTEI, explained, is made up of “a high comfort clamping band and support, anti-fog film and triple layer of graphene compound, which blocks particles greater than 5 nanometers” and prevents the growth of bacteria and other external agents.
“Oxide graphene is a new nanomaterial that comes from carbon and has multiple properties, it is 200 times stronger than steel, five times lighter than aluminum, biocompatible, waterproof and non-toxic.”
