translated from Spanish: Attack on tourists in Vallarta leaves a dead; “no allegations of disappearance”

A group of at least 14 people were deprived of their liberty in the city of Puerto Vallarta, in Jalisco, when they were on a sightseeing tour.
According to the newspaper Reforma, the events would have occurred on Saturday, July 18, although this afternoon the Jalisciense Prosecutor’s Office said at a press conference that, so far, they have no complaints of disappearance of people.
What they do know, the prosecutor of the entity, Gerardo Octavio Solís, pointed out, is that this group of between 13 and 14 people from the city of León, Guanajuato, were attacked by a group of armed men in a division of Vallarta on Avenida Grandes Lagos.
“Witnesses refer that, unforeseenly, they are approached by a convoy of vehicles shutting down their passage. And that’s where the chaos begins. Some try to flee, but from gunfire a person is injured in the place, dying soon after in the hospital,” the prosecutor said.
The Jalisciense Prosecutor’s Office said it is working to clarify the murder and that, although they have not yet received reports of disappearance or kidnapping, they are also on that line of investigation.
“Today morning, in a chat with the Guanajuato prosecutor, he confirmed to me that there they also have no demise complaint there,” Gerardo Solís stressed.
The newspaper Reforma published that about 20 people were taking an adventure trip through the Sierra de Occidente de Jalisco. The vacationers drove RZR vehicles, off-road quad bikes, and were completing an overnight route in towns such as Ameca, Talpa de Allende, until they reached the tourist port of Vallarta.
