A day after a law reform to prohibit the sale or free distribution of “scrap” products to minors in Oaxaca, the governor of Tabasco said he will send a similar initiative to his state’s Congress.
This proposal, he said, will be to prohibit the sale, distribution and also promotion of unhealthy products to minors.
“We must return as much as possible to traditional food and we must start with the children to be educated,” said Governor Adam Augusto López, according to a statement from the Tabasco government.
One of the lessons of the COVID pandemic, he mentioned, is that healthy nutrition practices should be promoted for disease prevention.
The initiative that will send, he added, will support the national strategy of including the Healthy Living subject in basic education plans, “and that families to the extent of their economic possibilities provide less nutritious food to the less nutritious food.”
