This Friday the second report prepared by iCOVID was released, showing how the pandemic develops in national territory. It is an initiative created by the University of Chile, the U. Católica and the U. de Concepción where an analysis is carried out based on the figures handled by the Ministry of Health. Thus, there is a decrease in new cases in the regions of Arica, Tarapacá and Antofagasta, while the downward trend in the Metropolitan Region remains. The document also notes that the Coquimbo and Valparaiso regions remain stable, compared to last week. However, an increase in the Biobío and Atacama regions was found in the incidence rate. The academic of the School of Public Health of the U. of Chile, Mauricio Canals, as assigned by Emol, indicated that “the province of Concepción is the one of greatest concern and the highest density, with a rate of 16 per 100 thousand inhabitants. This is because it has a population density that incorporates the urban radius of the Gran Concepción, and that makes it the area with greatest concern”. In doing so, he noted that “the number of active cases in Central Chile has been decreasing, although a high burden still remains”.
