The Minister of Health, Enrique Paris spoke regarding the resignation of the Magellan Health seremi, Mariela Rojas, who accused “partial, erroneous and unacceptable expressions” of Paris.
Rojas submitted his resignation after on Sunday, Paris referred to the complicated situation in the region, demanding greater coordination of the authorities in the area. “Magallanes was the region that achieved the best rates at some point and today it is with the worst figures in Chile,” he said.
In this regard, the minsal holder said that “if she felt alluded to – which is not the case, because I did not name anyone – I apologise, I apologize, and I thank her for her work, because we have never said that she has worked poorly”.
“The truth is that I referred to the authorities in general, and I asked for more coordination at work. At no point did I mean that there was a bad management. What I did say (…) that unfortunately the increase in cases in Punta Arenas is of great concern to us. Just as we are happy when the numbers go down, we are very concerned when the numbers rise,” the minister explained.
He added, according to Emol, that “I said – you can see the recording – is that I turned to the authorities, in general, I didn’t even talk about Health.”
However, the secretary of state held appreciated Rojas’ work and said he accepted his resignation. He then clarified that “at no point did I refer to her; I just talked about all the authorities working in a coordinated way.”
