translated from Spanish: Women return to CODHEM headquarters and cause fire in protest

A group of women arrived this afternoon at the headquarters of the Human Rights Commission of the State of Mexico (CODHEM) in Ecatepec to protest the assaults and detention of 13 women during the early hours of this Friday.
On social networks various collectives shared videos showing women making some pints and setting fire to the property, which was suffocated moments later.
After several minutes, the women withdrew from the site peacefully.
Civil Protection of Ecatepec reported that there were no people injured by the fire.

The Marabunta Humanitarian Peace Brigade shared a couple of videos where protesters are seen shouting slogans against the authorities of the State of Mexico.

For its part, the Visitaduría General de Ecatepec condemned these facts and called the acts “a severe damage to the heritage of the Mexiquens”, which affects the protection of human rights of at least 15 Mexichen municipalities.

We condemn the acts that were the subject of the facilities and property of the Visitaduría General in #Ecatepec; severe damage to the heritage of the Mexichens, which impacts the service of protection, promotion and defense of #DDHH in 15 municipalities that area of the #Edoméx. pic.twitter.com/P0oMlyWKFI

In the early hours of friday, authorities in the State of Mexico assaulted and arrested women who took over the headquarters, as well as photographers and journalists who were on site.
Later, the Mexican State Prosecutor’s Office reported that 13 people were arrested, who were released this Friday morning.
According to a CODHEM newsletter, members of the collective ‘Manada periphery’ peacefully entered the facilities of the Sede Ecatepec General Visitary in solidarity with the movement and the taking by collectives at the CNDH headquarters in Mexico City.
The Commission said the women spoke with first general visitor Victor Delgado Pérez.
However, the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico (FGEJEM) noted in a bulletin that the operation to evict them was carried out after “that Agency reported that its facilities had been taken by force by several people”.
Several videos shared on social media watch police enter the headquarters and beat the women to stop them.
Despite the existence of this evidence, the Edomex Prosecutor’s Office rejected the fact that its elements have used excessive force and argued that the 13 women were arrested for their likely involvement in the crime of illegal occupation of a property intended for public service.
