A group of activists gathered this afternoon in the city of Guadalajara to conduct an “Antigrita” in protest of violence against women.

According to local media, the movement was attended by more than 100 women, who, in addition to shouting slogans demanding justice, showed photographs of women victims of femicide and missing.
Attendees claimed that violence against women has been on the rise and that Mexico cannot celebrate independence until no more women have been missing and killed.
Some of the statues located in the Rotunda of the Illustrious Jaliscienses, such as those of Rafael Preciado and Clemente Orozco were covered with the names and photographs of the victims.
In the immediate vicinity of the area there were also some pints with the same demands of justice for all women.
The protesters also demanded the CNDH’s lack of work and the use of force exerted by police against demonstrations in some of the previous protests, so they said they were fed up.
After several minutes of demonstrating, the women withdrew from the site peacefully. On this occasion, the Guadalajara Municipal Police only merely observed the movement from afar.
Last Monday night mothers of victims of femicides, relatives of missing persons and feminist collectives performed an “Antigrita” in the offices taken from the National Commission on Human Rights (CNDH) in Mexico City.
In recent days, as part of the celebrations of The Independence of Mexico, various feminist collectives have called on such movements to demand concrete action against violence against women from the authorities.
