Following government action to slow the coronavirus’s advance, thousands of protesters gathered at Trafalgar Square in London to show their discontent. As the risk plan required by the authorities for the protests was not met, london police intervened in the protests, causing loud unrest between the two sides.
Among many of the posters seen in images and videos, people categorized English officialism as a “tyranny” and criticized the long wait for the COVID-19 vaccine. In a tweet posted from an official Metropolitan Police account, they clarified that they intervened because “protesters were putting others at risk of contagion.”
Crowds in Trafalgar Square have not complied with the conditions of their risk assessment and are putting people in danger of transmitting the virus. This has voided their risk assessment and we have informed the event organisers they are no longer exempt from the regulations. pic.twitter.com/Pe6ODai9BB — MPS Events (@MetPoliceEvents)

“We have informed the event organizers that they are no longer exempt from regulations,” they finished clarifying in another paragraph. It should be noted that, in the United Kingdom, the total coronavirus numbers are 429,277 contagions and 41,971 deaths, making it the worst number of COVID-19 deaths across Europe.
