translated from Spanish: Trains IMUJERIS in gender perspective to staff of the Directorate of Public Safety of Tarímbaro

Morelia, Michoacán.- In order to strengthen gender-based training actions with Michoacan municipalities, the Municipal Institute of Women for Substantive Equality (IMUJERIS) held several workshops aimed at the staff of the Public Security Directorate of the Municipality of Tarímbaro, responding to a request from that body, reported in a statement.
Three training processes were conducted addressing topics such as: “Risk Assessment in Cases of Gender Violence”, “Gender ABC, Harassment and Harassment” and “Gender-Based Psychological Care”, provided by staff from the IMUJERIS Departments of Legal Care, Training and Physical and Emotional Welfare.
In this context, the holder of the Institute, Concepción Torres Zaragoza, gave the records to the Administrative Director of the Public Security Directorate of the City of Tarímbaro, Plácido Cortés Santoyo, of the officials who participated in the online workshops.
Both sides welcomed the collaboration between the units to train staff in this area, after expressing their readiness to continue to carry out coordinated actions that pay for substantive equality at the municipal level.
During her participation, the director of IMUJERIS, Concepción Torres, stressed that it has been a long way for gender-sensitive issues to be addressed in different areas, referred to the fact that attitudes or even gender-based violence itself are often normalized, so she stressed that it is necessary to influence the change in the culture of inequality and discrimination.
It indicated that, as Morelia and Tarímbaro were conurbated municipalities, they shared similar problems, so it stressed the importance of joint work.
In his turn, the Administrative Director of Public Security of Tarímbaro, Placido Cortés, noted that the training received is of great benefit to the staff of that City Council, and the objective is to continue working with the Institute.
During the delivery of records, the coordinator of the Psychology Area of the Directorate of Public Safety of Tarímbaro, Diana Esmeralda Almanza Cortés, as well as Delia Villalobos Arciga, Technical Secretary of IMUJERIS, was also present; Adriana Migueles Pérez Abreu, Tzitziki Ovalos Ortiz and Erika Aceves Herrera, heads of the Departments for Physical and Emotional Welfare, Legal Care and Training, respectively.
