translated from Spanish: SEFECO made the 5th credit delivery; already add up to 800 people benefited

Morelia, Michoacán.- In order to promote equality and promote women’s economic autonomy, the fifth delivery of the credit programme to micro-entrepreneurs was made by the Government of Morelia through the Secretariat for Economic Development (SEFECO) and Yes Financia, for one million hundred thousand pesos totaling six million pesos delivered this year and 800 beneficiaries.
SeFECO holder Gabriela Molina Aguilar stressed that for the municipal administration of the president, Raúl Morón Orozco, a priority is to consolidate public policies for equality, since women suffer from discrimination and violence on a daily basis, and in the economic sphere, do not access credit from the banking sector for lack of proven income, property or guarantees; in addition to facing a triple working day and a pay gap.
For her part, the municipal trustee, Labinia Aranda Ortega celebrated that 70 percent of beneficiaries were women and recalled that the president, Raúl Morón, promotes policies for substantive equality such as: the construction of the first municipal refuge for women; the “contact” reporting strategy; the lighting programme for women’s safety; gender-focused social welfare programmes as well as the strengthening of the Municipal Institute of Women for Substantive Equality (IMUJERIS).
Molina Aguilar explained that it is essential for the Government of Morelia to prevent, sanction and eradicate gender-based violence and to generate an egalitarian society, through programs and actions such as access to credit, training and the use of digital platforms.
In addition, the beneficiary, Laura Prado Arciga, emphasized that the credits delivered help local companies that drive and impact the community, family businesses that in turn contract services from similar ones.
This event was also attended by personalities such as: the Secretary of Government of the State, Carlos Herrera Tello, the Secretary of Economic Development, Jesús Melgoza Velázquez, the director of IMUJERIS, Concepción Torres Zaragoza, the Secretary of Tourism of Morelia, Roberto Monroy García, the president of the Canirac, Alejandro Hernández Torres, the president of Covechi, Alfonso Guerrero Guadarrama, among others.
