Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah has tested positive for coronavirus during the rally with the Egypt national team, the National Country Football Association (EFA) reported this Friday, although he is in perfect health. Salah showed no symptoms of the disease and no other member of the Egyptian national team has tested positive, the Association added. “The medical examination carried out upon the arrival of our national football team showed that our international player Mohamed Salah, the star of Liverpool, was infected with coronavirus.” The 28-year-old battering ram is currently in Egypt where he was to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against the national team against Togo scheduled for this Saturday. The news has generated controversy in the country after the beginning of this week, Egyptian media showed Salah attending his brother’s wedding party. The news also represents a major blow to Liverpool, as Salah is likely to miss his next two matches against Leicester City, in Premier League, and Atalanta, in the Champions League. Premier League champions already have a long disabled list with Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez and Fabinho, all in the infirmary. Salah has scored in each of the eight games he has started for Liverpool this season.
