A group of protesters on Monday went to the Zocalo in Mexico City to demand that people who are still camped and space be freed away; this, after the Frena movement is de-armored from those who remain there, in front of the National Palace.
At one point the protesters tried to remove the fences that prevent the passage to the Zocalo iron, although police then intervened to stop the confrontation and contain them.
Millennium TV showed a moment when in the midst of the protests and the attempt to remove the fences someone threw some kind of gas from the other side or activated a fire extinguisher, although it was not clear who did it.
“We want to pass in the middle of the Zocalo, freely,” one protester claimed.
The capital government secretary, Alfonso Suárez del Real, came down from his office and arrived at the Zocalo to dialogue with the protesters.
“Let them fight, we have to support the people of Tabasco, from Chiapas,” he told them about the people who are still in the Zocalo and their break with the Frena movement.
“Let us be worth what they’re doing, ” he added.
At one point he even told a protester that the Zocalo will be free by next Sunday.
