Certainly, the coronavirus pandemic brought some rejection to enclosed spaces, whether they are in public places such as restaurants or bars or in transport. With respect to the latter, the fact that they were not used as before the start of the pandemic had a direct impact on the use of alternative transports, such as bicycles, that their use increased by 83% since quarantine began in Argentina. This data was revealed by Google Maps according to requests for bike tours. “During quarantine, the bicycle was the most popular means of transport in Argentina. Requests for bike tours on Maps increased by 83% from 2019 to 2020, while those linked to public transport decreased by 53%,” they detailed in the published report.
In addition, the application revealed that the Argentines’ favorite day for cycling is Saturday and that, in the City of Buenos Aires, their use increased by 98%. On the other hand, the app showed that, as the different isolations of the provinces became more flexible, the search for routes to go to gastronomic premises increased considerably. On this, they commented: “Those who decide to make gastronomic plans in restaurants and cafes, the busiest schedule of that day is at 21 hs in the first case and 11 hours in the last. While the time with the least occupancy in the restaurants is tuesday at 22 hs, and in cafes on Monday at 8pm.”
