The Ministry of Health published the 28th Weekly Death Report. According to the document, as of 24 December, 16,404 deces were recorded with confirmed PCR examination and 5,459 probable, i.e. awaiting confirmation or discard of coronavirus infection.
In total, minsal accounted for 21,863 deaths, adding both indicators, since the start of the pandemic in Chile.
In the breakdown of deaths, the Metropolitan Region remains the macrozone with the highest number of deaths (13,803 in total) and in both cases (confirmed and likely) remains the region with the highest adjusted mortality rate per 100,000 inhabitants, with an index of 115.50. It is followed by Antofagasta (103.17) and Magellan (98.86).
On the other hand, the lower-rate regions remain Aysén (14.17) and Los Ríos (18.01), followed by Auble (26.81), La Araucanía (27.64) and Los Lagos (28.57).
The national mortality rate, meanwhile, stands at 670.20 considering confirmed and probable coronavirus death.

The Minsal also published the 80th Epidemiological Report totaling in 595,831 confirmed cases and 82,871 probable cases, since the beginning of the pandemic.
The total number of coronavirus infections in the country is 678,702 people.
The report prepared by the Department of Statistics and Information (DEIS) of the Minsal details, in respect of active cases at the regional level, that the Metropolitan has the largest amount (4,025), followed by Biobío (3,056), Los Lagos (1,514), La Araucanía (1,249) and Valparaíso (1,236 cases).
At the communal level, Puerto Montt has the highest number of active cases in the country with 566. He is followed by Iquique (488), Los Angeles (437), Antofagasta (387), Concepción (370), Punta Arenas (385) and Valdivia (346).
In the case of the Metropolitan Region, Puente Alto leads the active cases with 344, followed by Maipú (272), Santiago (256), La Florida (226), Las Condes (174), Pudahuel (155), San Bernardo (139) and Auñoa with 123 cases.
The highest cumulative incidence rates of contagion per 100,000 inhabitants, as confirmed by laboratory, are found in the Magellan Region (10,059.3), Tarapacá Region (4,657.3) and Metropolitan Region (4,386.7).
