Citizens marched this Sunday in Tamaulipas, in support of Governor Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca, accused of organized crime, operations with resources of illicit origin and tax fraud.
With slogans such as “With Tamaulipas you don’t play” and “We’re with our governor,” the march departed from different points in Ciudad Victoria, and ended up in Plaza Juarez. According to Telediario, the mobilization was led by Senator Ismael Cabeza de Vaca, Mayor María del Pilar Gómez Leal and some candidates of the National Action Party (PAN).

In Plaza Juarez, the governor pointed out to attendees that the accusations against him are “onsled by this government,” and stated that even if they continue to “attack, defame, slander… nobody gives up here, we’re going to show what we’re made of in Tamaulipas.”
“I will continue to fight for Tamaulipas and for my people, we will continue to give the battle for this great state, because I know well that I am not alone, I count on the best men and women, distinguished ranchers, farmers, senators, our deputies, mayors, mayors and above all the men and women who will never give up,” he said.

The march was convened by the PAN, following the request of the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (FGR) to the Chamber of Deputies to disagrate Cabeza de Vaca.
After the investigation against him became known, the governor assured that the allegations are the product of an orderly political persecution from the National Palace.
The representative asked to hear the accusations to have a defense, and stated that “if there is any crime I have committed, it may be not to have submitted to this federal government.”
