COVID vaccines, migration and security are some of the topics that will be addressed in the conversation between President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and his U.S. similar, Joe Biden.
The meeting between the two representatives will be held on Monday in a virtual manner.
At his morning conference, López Obrador highlighted Biden’s respect for Mexico and said that two months ago, when they first spoke, the U.S. representative said his administration doesn’t see Mexico as “America’s backyard.”
“I thanked him for having that conception because Mexico is a free, independent and sovereign country. And we will never get into matters that have to do with U.S. citizens,” López Obrador said.
With regard to monday’s meeting, he noted that issues on the general agenda between the two countries would be addressed in order to maintain a relationship of cooperation and a good-neighbourly policy with the US.
“(We will talk) about COVID issues, especially vaccine, migration, security and climate change,” he said.
The president detailed that the video call will be at 3:30 p.m. and that once completed they will report the details.
