In February 2021, the criminal incidence in Mexico City decreased by 27.1% compared to the same month of 2020.
According to figures from the February 2021 Criminal Impact Assessment, presented on Tuesday, most crimes declined, but in three areas there was an increase.
For example, passenger theft on board taxi increased 35.7%, from 14 cases in February 2020 to 19 in February 2021.
While the theft of carriers rose 28.6% as it went from 7 to 9 cases, and the theft home room violently 7.8% (from 51 to 55 cases).
By contrast, the crime that declined the most when comparing between February 2020 and the same month of 2021 was theft aboard Metrobus with an 81.7% decline.

And intentional homicide decreased 17.5% from 103 crimes in February 2020 to 85 homicides in February 2021. In this crime, the capital authorities detailed that the daily average number of victims dropped from 3.6 to 3.0, in February of this year.
Vehicle theft
The capital authorities highlighted the work done in the crime of vehicle theft in recent months.
In February 2020, vehicle theft with violence dropped 32.1% and non-violent vehicle theft 33.9%, from a daily average of 12.2 stolen cars to 10.6.
On this subject, CDMX Citizen Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch reported that 138 vehicles and 146 people have been apprehended from January 1 to 15 March; 137 of these persons were arrested in flagrance.

In total, only for the crime of theft in its various forms, the FGJ-CDMX achieved a thousand 366 links to the process and in 79% of them there was pre-trial detention.
On the other hand, from 1 January to 17 March, 100% of the links to trial for murder offences, gun injuries and kidnapping ended up in pre-trial detention.
