The Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, reported on Wednesday that at least six cases have been detected in our country of people infected with Covid-19 with the Brazilian variant.
On the way out of his participation in the Senate, where Paris talked about the situation of the pandemic in Chile, he stated that “in several patients we have sequenced Brazilian strain and that is why we have practically closed the border with Brazil”.
“We do not advise traveling to Brazil at this time, because when we return the measures are very strict. We have several cases of people infected with the Brazilian strain, it’s 6, and it seems to me that it’s 14 or 15 infected with the British strain,” he added.
Today, Chile continues to receive travelers from Brazil, only there are tougher confinement measures, as those who have been in Brazil in the last 14 days should move to a transit hotel, where they will be for 72 hours, regardless of the outcome of their PCR test.
“Since Thursday, restrictions are greatly increased. No person who comes from Brazil can not quarantine, they have to quarantine yes or yes,” Paris explained.
“The British strain is very contagious, but it is not so evil, so to speak, the Brazilian strain is much more aggressive and we are also finding it in much younger people,” he said.
