Victoria Esperanza Salazar Arriaza, 36, left Sonsonate, El Salvador, seeking protection in 2016. With her were her daughters, who were then 11 and 10 years old, respectively.
All three arrived in Tapachula, Chiapas, where they applied for asylum before the Mexican Refugee Aid Commission (Comar) on September 4, 2017, a year after leaving their country.
