A coach who belongs to the Argentine Football Association (AFA), from whom his identity was not revealed, was denounced for sexually intimidating and harassing teenage players. According to a statement from the International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPro), multiple renowned Argentine players filed a complaint with the FIFA Ethics Commission regarding the coach’s worrying behavior.” The footballers have provided evidence to the FIFA Ethics Commission, which alleges in detail how the coach in question used his position of power to intimidate and sexually harass various teenagers, some even 14, who were in the quest to realize their dream of becoming footballers,” FIFPro reported.
He added: “In what should have been a safe environment, girls were victims of threats and sexual comments of explicit and violent nature.” Faced with this situation, the Federation asked FIFA to dismiss the coach from his current position, in which he could access and exercise power over minors. FIFPro provides legal support to footballers who, they claim, “are determined to play a key role in developing football in a safer and more inclusive environment.” In addition, the body called on other affected footballers to contact (legal@fifpro.org) in order to help them, under absolute confidentiality.
