The increase in cases recorded in the last week, after 15 days of a decrease in cases with restrictions on circulation, raised alarms in the administrations of the City and province and there could be further closures. With a total closure similar to that of 20 March 2020 almost ruled out, this week Health Minister Fernán Quiros acknowledged the increase in cases and said that further restrictions are under discussion.
“We have several days left to see how it evolves (the curve), and according to that we will propose to the City Government what is the best way, but we decidedly need cases to continue to drop,” Quirós said. In buenos Aires, the weekly average number of cases went from 2234 to 2321, while in the Province that number went from 8,905 to 9,221.The Porteño minister presented the picture in dialogue with TN and assured that this increase “is an alert that needs to be explained to people.”
Consulted by the face-to-face classes, a tool of political fight between Nation, City and Province, the official considered that “it is the last thing we would propose to close”. However, Quirós explained that if progress is made towards a total closure, such as the one requested today by the province of Buenos Aires “the school could accompany it.” It seems increasingly logical to take a stronger, more limited measure of care to finish vaccinating and preserving the health system,” Kreplak said.
