Tacuro, Chilchota.- Representatives of the indigenous peoples of Michoacán handed over to Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, the cane of command as a symbol of the support and trust they place in the candidate of Morena-PT for governor to drive the transformation of reality into the original peoples.
A statement indicated that representatives of the purépecha, nahua, mazahua, Ottoman, and matlaltzinca indigenous peoples determined in the State Assembly of the Original Peoples and Communities of Michoacán to support Ramírez Bedolla to be governor.
Alfredo Ramírez invited women and men, as well as the communal authorities, to revise the Municipal Organic Law, which approved its reform that recognizes the self-government of indigenous peoples, as well as their right to exercise the direct budget.
Morena-PT’s candidate stated that he would enforce the direct budget law for indigenous peoples, and stated that this is only the beginning of the work to be done with indigenous communities.
Representatives of indigenous peoples, including Cemeí Verdía, raised their needs in terms of safety, environmental sustainability, mother language conservation, handicraft marketing, and comprehensive development for their communities
“I accept the position and responsibility that the peoples of Michoacán give me and I commit myself to working and serving communities in a simple and humble way,” Ramírez Bedolla said after receiving the cane of command along with Raúl Morón Orozco, morena’s state leader.
