Pachuca.- With 18 votes in favor, 9 against and one in abstention, the Congress of Hidalgo removed isaid Acosta Tellez, of the Social Encounter Party of Hidalgo (PES), from the position of Municipal President of Calnali. Acosta Tellez was subjected to an impeachment trial, where he was found responsible for inflicting the disqualification issued by the Comptroller’s Office of the City Council, for alleged irregularities in the management of public resources during his tenure as Municipal Works Secretary in the administration from 2016 to 2020, according to information published by Reforma.

Some residents accused the PES mayor of selling a garbage truck for 2 and a half million pesos, which was bought by the interim government of Calnali, to allegedly cover acts of corruption. The municipal president of Calnali was dismissed in a closed session, where 15 legislators from Morena and three from the National Action Party voted in favor of his removal. Asael Hernández, president of the Governing Board of the local Congress, said that the opinion was sent to the Court of Administrative Justice to formalize the revocation of the mandate. For his part, Isaid Acosta Tellez said that he is still in office. Likewise, he issued a statement in which he asserted that the resolution of the local Congress is illegal and has political overtones.
