Mexico. – The Federal Commission for Protection against Health Risks (Cofepris) approved the emergency use of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine against COVID-19 for children between 12 and 17 years old.
The regulator said in a statement that the vaccine is the first to be authorized in Mexico for application in adolescents.
It is noteworthy that the biological has been authorized for emergency use since December 11, 2020, when it was submitted for consideration for application to people over 18 years of age.
“The Committee of New Molecules (CMN), met on this expansion of the age group on June 11, 2021, and unanimously its members issued a favorable opinion,” he details about the decision announced this afternoon.
