During June, according to the ENSU, 66.6% of Mexicans over the age of 18 said the place where they live is unsafe. Last March, 66.4% felt there was a security problem in their community.

Women feel more insecure than men: 71.3% of them against 60.9% of men.
The ENSU also details that 16.6% of the population over the age of 18 suffered from personal harassment and/or sexual violence in the first half of 2021. In the case of women, this percentage was 24.7%, while in men it was 6.9%.

Insecurity and habits
77.6% of the population felt unsafe at ATMs; 71.4% in public transport, 63% in the bank and 59.6% in the streets you usually use.
Insecurity also caused 56.3% of respondents to change their habits and stop “carrying valuables such as jewelry, money or credit cards”; 48.7% admitted to having stopped “walking around their home, past eight o’clock at night”; 47.5% changed routines in terms of “allowing their minor children to leave their home” and 31.7% changed routines related to “visiting relatives or friends.”
